Both sports are wrong, this is neither rugby (indeed, played without such elaborate padding) nor football (played with feet and a ball that is shaped like a ball). This is the US sport of handegg.

Wrong sport. Rugby doesn't have helmets or shoulder pads.... or a football, for that matter
